No Name Yet

As promised, here are some pictures of my pretty boy! I can't believe he sat still long enough for me to snap a few photos. Normally whenever I pull out the camera he tries to nudge my hand & I get a blurry picture of his nose or his ear.

Now that he's back, the hard part begins...finding new nicknames. I've mentioned Cyclops, Jacob prefers Pirate (Seaton already has a little eyepatch)...any suggestions.

He's had a great day. Playing with a bottle cap, trying to wrestle with Avey, begging for food...being Seaton!

And if you look closely, you can see the project I've been working on this week. Seaton may be sad to see this one go...

Update...

It seems as if the roller coaster is over. Seaton had his enucleation Tuesday!

I was nervous to take him to a doctor we hadn't ever met before but I wasn't happy with the vets he had seen before & I couldn't afford the University's services (again). So I took a leap of faith & the advice of a good friend. Thankfully I was really pleased! I was pleased with the care the doctor provided, the attention she showed Seaton, and how "normal" he has seemed since coming home. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't also happy with how she gushed over what a great cat Seaton is.

I'll post a picture soon...Seaton has "eye lashes" that Lady Gaga would kill for! haha

But I will post some pictures of what I've made recently:

A couple of doll quilts for my cousin's little girls. This first one was my first attempt working with HSTs. At times it was difficult to match up seams, but I was really happy with how it turned out.

In this second one I used some Heather Ross for the first time. I thought the little stacking dolls were perfect for a doll quilt!

And this was my mom's Christmas present. I used some more of my Figgy Pudding layer cake. I pieced together the trees and hand quilted around each square and each tree. She was happy with it! Now I just need to come up with ideas for the other 11 months of the year!

Another Loop

Do you remember that surgery I mentioned the other day? The one that Seaton has needed since the beginning of November? The one that is needed because he is blind? The one that is needed because the pressure in the blind eye is causing him discomfort? The one that has been postponed by a visit to the dentist, a dental surgery, and multiple blood tests to see how his kidneys are functioning (normally apparently)? The one that was scheduled for yesterday? Yeah...that surgery.

Didn't happen. Just when I think the ride is over and the roller coaster cars are coming to a stop...just when I think I can stand up and make sure that my body is fully intact after the Ride From Hell...just when I feel like it's safe and I'm not going to vomit...they throw in yet another loop! Another damn loop? Really? Yes.

Apparently, each veterinarian's office has its own protocol that it follows before performing surgery on animals. Okay, I'm fine with that. And apparently this office requires that the animal be up to date on its rabies vaccine. Okay, I'm fine with that, too. But...small problem...Seaton is an indoor cat. 100% indoors. He's never even around animals that go outside. So...I sometimes fall behind on that shot. Oops... So he got a rabies vaccine Tuesday and we scheduled another appointment for NEXT Tuesday. Ugh...

(Note: I am not at all upset with this veterinarian...I just wish I would have known and could have taken care of it before yesterday.)

(Additional Note: Seaton didn't get sick on the way to the vet's office - half an hour away. )

(Last Note: Seaton behaved really well with the vet. Didn't throw a fit! Score!)

He'll just wink all the time...

Seaton has surgery tomorrow. My beautiful boy goes in for his second surgery in less than 2 months. It's been such a roller coaster ride since November. And while I normally love them, this roller coaster has been pretty scary.

I've thought about writing this big novel about everything we've gone through, but can't do it...not tonight. Not after last night when my family had to say goodbye to another beloved pet, Susie.

So I'm just hoping for good news tomorrow & hoping that I'm a good enough mom to not focus on what is missing but on what I have...a little boy who can add permanently winking to his list of talents.
